Dive Site Highlights

Adrenaline drift dive along a dramatic underwater wall that drops past recreational limits; Nusa Penida's clearest visibility (up to 35m); negative entry required — roll backwards and descend immediately while drifting; proximity to Crystal Bay allows two

Marine Life You May Encounter

Marble rays — frequently spotted resting on the wall or swimming along the reef edge
White-tip and black-tip reef sharks patrol the deeper sections of the wall
Mola Mola (ocean sunfish) — seasonal July–October, sometimes seen at cleaning stations along the wall
Pelagic action: giant trevally, dogtooth tuna, barracuda, schooling jacks
Healthy sea fans and soft corals clinging to the dramatic wall face
Turtles occasionally seen cruising along the reef top

Dive Tips

This is a negative entry dive — roll backwards and descend immediately while the current carries you along the wall
Stay close to the wall to avoid being swept into the blue — if you lose the wall you may end up in open water with no reference
Carry an SMB and reel at all times — you may surface far from the boat and need to signal your position
Monitor your depth gauge constantly — the wall drops past 40m and it is dangerously easy to exceed recreational limits in strong downcurrents
Dive with an experienced guide who knows the site and the current patterns
Be prepared for sudden temperature drops — thermoclines can shift water temperature by 5–8°C within seconds, which can cause ear squeeze and discomfort

Underwater Photography

Use a wide-angle or fisheye lens to capture the dramatic wall and pelagic marine life
Keep your camera setup streamlined — you need to be hydrodynamic in strong currents
Use a lanyard or retracter for your camera — a dropped camera is gone in the current
Set shutter speed to 1/250s or faster — you are moving fast in the current and subjects appear and disappear quickly
Focus on the wall for dramatic topography shots with soft corals and sea fans
Do not stop to compose shots if the current is strong — shoot on the drift and review later
